Deputy Environment Minister attends Ozone protection treaty meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Minister of Environment and Tourism Ts.Batbayar and head of the Ozone Authority Ts.Adiyasuren attended the 30th Meeting of the Parties to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer held on November 5-9 in Quito, Ecuador.

Representatives of 197 countries discussed one of the most important ecological issues, protection of the ozone layer, and measures to reduce the use of chlorofluorocarbons, the main chemical agents causing the global warming.

Deputy Minister Ts.Batbayar delivered speech at the meeting and introduced the results of the works, achievements of Mongolian Government in this regard and future tendency. He also announced Mongolia’s intention to join the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol.

Deputy Minister emphasized that Mongolia is committed to its responsibility to international community under the Montreal Protocol and has repeatedly reformed the legal framework for implementing the protocol, introducing new technologies in the cooling and ventilation services and improving the human resource capacity of the sector.
