Scholars share views on works of Ts.Damdinsuren

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. For the 97th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Russian Federation, a roundtable discussion, “The Life and Works of Ts.Damdinsuren” was organized between young scholars and researchers in the Mongolian Studies’ field at the Mongolian Embassy in Russia on October 19.  


Mongolian Ambassador in Russia, B.Delgermaa gave opening remarks for the roundtable discussion, “The entire life and works of Ts.Damdinsuren, who is one of the greatest figures of modern Mongolian literature, founder of the current Mongolian grammar, scholar, translator, famous author and educator, is a legend as well as he made a significant contribution to the development of Mongolian literary works.”


She continued on by saying, “This year is the 110th anniversary of the three-time State Prize Laureate, State Honored Author, academician Ts.Damdinsuren. The anniversary is celebrated by not only the people of Mongolia, but also by researchers of Russia as well as its people. It is a rare occasion that his very own daughter, Anna Tsendina, who is also your professor, to tell us about Ts.Damdinsuren, his life and works. As the ambassador of Mongolia, on behalf of the embassy, it would be our pleasure in partnering with researchers of Mongolian studies as well as students who are learning Mongolian, in the field of studies and research.”  

 

At the start of her speech, daughter of Ts.Damdinsuren, department administrator at the Russian State University of Humanities University and leading staff member of the Oriental Studies’ department at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Anna Tsendina thanked the Mongolian Ambassador in Russia B.Delgermaa as well as the embassy for organizing the event. She then talked about her father’s ancestry, early life, personality and the affecting factors that lead him to education.


She said, “As for literature, my father wrote literary works in several genres and types. His research on the other hand, will be quite a challenge to talk about in one go,” and expressed her thoughts and critics as a scholar and researcher on the worth of his works.

Professors, young researchers and students of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Russian State University of Humanities actively participated in the discussion by asking the questions that they were interested in.
