Deputy PM invited to Cuba
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin on October 18, held a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Mongolia Raul Delgado Concepcion.
The meeting exchanged views on developing trade and economic
relations between the two countries, elevating bilateral relations in health,
education, culture and sports, and cooperation opportunities in other fields.
Cuba has much experience in dealing with disaster situations
and taking relief measures as the country faces seastorms between May and October every year due to its geographical location.
For instance the country evacuated around one million people and some of its
major plants to prevent from the Hurricane Irma which caused damage worth USD
10 billion last year. As a result, there were no fatalities and the damaged
power grid was normalized within 10 days. Thus, the Cuban side invited Deputy
PM U.Enkhtuvshin to visit their country to study experience and to cooperate in
this field in the future. Moreover, they expressed willingness to study
Mongolia’s experience in the mining sector.
The sides exchanged views on holding mutual high-level
visits, promoting student exchange and tourism, conducting joint training of judo,
freestyle wrestling and box prior to the 2020 Summer Olympics, and organizing
specific events in scope of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic
relations between the two countries to be marked in 2020.
The Deputy PM noted President of the Council of State and the
Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel has the
invitation to pay a visit to Mongolia.
