PM U.Khurelsukh receives Russian Defense Minister S.Shoigu

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/.The Mongolian Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh received the Russian Defense Minister, Army General S.K.Shoigu today. Minister S.Shoigu had previously made an official visit to Mongolia in 2001 when he was the Minister for Emergency Situations, bringing aid to herders.

At the beginning of the meeting, PM U.Khurelsukh expressed gratitude to Minister S.K.Shoigu for paying an official visit as the Minister of Defense. PM U.Khurelsukh highlighted that the Mongolian government gives utmost priority on relations with the Russian Federation, firmly adhering the policy on developing strategic partnership, and continuing to develop military cooperation.


He then expressed gratitude to the Russian Defense Ministry for making significant contribution to development of military cooperation between the two countries, rendering grants and training army personal. The PM requested the Russian Defense Minister to study possibilities of recovering the Inter-Governmental Agreement on Rendering Military Assistance, established in 2004 and extending it for a long term as well as providing some necessary military equipment from Russia with grant aid.


He expressed his hope that high ranking officials from Russia would visit Mongolia as honored guests in joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the battle of Khalkhin Gol. 


The Defense Minister of Russian Federation S.K.Shoigu expressed his pleasure in visiting Mongolia again and passed on the greetings from the Russian President V.V.Putin to PM U.Khurelsukh. He then expressed readiness in partnership in many fields, such as further development in military cooperation, holding joint military trainings and preparing army personal. The Minister requested to co-organize the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Khalkhin Gol battle in aims of immortalizing the veterans’ great heroic deeds.
