Chevening Scholarship to be extended

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On October 12, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Mongolia Philip Malone, where they exchanged views on education sector of the two countries.


At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Ts.Tsogzolmaa expressed gratitude for access of quality education to Mongolian youths thanks to Chevening Scholarship. She then expressed interest in extending the Memorandum of Understanding: Partnership Agreement for Chevening Scholarship.

 

The two sides concurred to extend the MoU.

 

Between 2014 and 2018, a total of 60 Mongolian students were granted the Chevening Scholarship, 7 of whom in 2014, 13 in 2015, 13 in 2016, 12 in 2017 and 15 in 2018 respectively.

 

Moreover, the sides exchanged views on international Cambridge standard schools in Mongolia. The former Ministry in cooperation with Cambridge Assessment International Education established three state-run international Cambridge standard schools namely ‘New Era’, ‘New Beginning’, and ‘Mongol Temuulel’ in 2011.  In the academic year of 2017-2018, a total of 828 pupils are studying at these schools.

 

The sides agreed that the cooperation brought positive outcomes and the three international Cambridge schools achieved their goals, for instance, performances and achievements of both students and teachers are being acknowledged. They further exchanged views on continuation of the program and possibility of introduction to all general education schools.
