Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ In the first 9 months of 2018, 50.2 million tons of freight and 147.3 million passengers (double counting) were carried in total by all type of transport. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the volume carried freight increased by 10.1 million tons (25.3 percent) and the number of carried passengers decreased by 10.5 thousand persons (6.6 percent). In the reference period, 31.5 million tons of freight and 144.6 million passengers (double counting) were carried by auto road transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight increased by 7.7 million tons (32.3 percent), whereas and the number of carried passengers decreased by 10.5 million persons (6.8 percent).

The revenue from road transport reached MNT 478.8 billion, increased by MNT 85.7 billion (21.8 percent) compared with the same period of the previous year. In the reference period, 18.7 million tons of freight and 2.0 million passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight increased by 2.4 million tons (15.0 percent), whereas the number of carried passengers decreased by 46.6 thousand passengers (2.3 percent). In September 2018, 2.2 million tons of freight and 184.3 thousand persons took railway transport. The freight volume increased by 89.2 thousand tons (4.2 percent), whereas the number of passengers decreased by 70.9 thousand (27.8 percent) compared to the previous month.

By railway transport, of the total carried freight in the first 9 months of 2018 was 38.8 percent was in domestic freight, 36.0 percent was in exports, 11.7 percent was in imports, 13.5 percent was in transit, where import by 1.1 points and export by 0.3 points increased reflectively, whereas domestic freight decreased by 1.3 points, transit freight 0.1 points from the same period of the previous year.

In the first 9 months of 2018, the revenue from railway transport reached MNT 449.9 billion increased by MNT 62.6 billion (16.2 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 9 months of 2018, 2.3 thousand tons of freight and 715.5 thousand passengers (double counting) carried by air transport.

In the first 9 months of 2018, the total carried domestic passengers by air transport reached 258.0 thousand passengers (36.1 percent) showing a rise of 23.2 thousand persons (9.9 percent) from the same period of the previous year. The number of international passengers reached 457.5 thousand (63.9 percent), reflecting an increase of 53.7 thousand persons (13.3 percent) compared with the same period of the previous year. The revenue from air transport reached MNT 317.5 billion, increased by MNT 15.2 billion (5.0 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year. In September 2018, revenue from air transport reached MNT 36.4 billion, decreased by MNT 14.8 billion (28.8 percent) compared to the previous month.
