State Secretary receives Deputy Assistant Secretary W.Patrick Murphy

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On October 9, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren received head of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs within the United States Department of State and Chargéd'affaires W.Patrick Murphy and exchanged views on bilateral relations, cooperation, issues related to regional and international relations.


First of all, the parties emphasized the developing bilateral relations and expressed their satisfaction over the Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh’s visit to the United States.


During the meeting, the sides discussed upcoming events in connection with the Prime Minister’s visit, political, trade, investment, defense and energy consultative meetings to be held by the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019.


Mr. Murphy expressed his satisfaction over Mongolia’s participation in the Ministerial Conference to Advance Religious Freedom, held in Washington in July, and works being implemented in this regard. He congratulated Mongolia for the appointment of the Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Freedom and organizing the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace in 2019, and pledged to cooperate in this regard.


The parties also noted that the ties between the citizens of the two counties play an important role in bilateral relations, agreed to announce the 2019 as a year of Mongolian-American youth and co-organize the Facebook forum for youth.


State Secretary D.Davaasuren expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the volunteers of the Peace Corps to the deepening and development of the relations, and his willingness to cooperate closely further. He also informed that the Peace Corps authorities are invited to Mongolia.
