Bank of Mongolia introduces collection of coins through its website
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Bank of Mongolia (BoM) has launched a website coin.mongolbank.mn to provide detailed information about its commemorative coins to public. Apart from information about commemorative coins that are on sale, the website also presents history and information about franchise coins that are being sold internationally with the permission of the BoM.
Within the Law
on State Treasury, commemorative coins are made on the occasion of historical
events and anniversaries.
In 1971, the Bank of Mongolia issued its first gold, silver,
nickel and brass coins for celebration of the 50th anniversary
of People’s Revolution. Since then, a series of commemorative coins have been issued to promote Mongolia, for instance, coins of historical anniversaries
of Mongolia, Great Khans Chinggis, Ugedei, Guyug, Khubilai, Mongolian and world
influential people and famous political figures, Olympic medalists, endangered
species and 12 year-animals.
The BoM informed that the bank is to release commemorative coins of
bronze and silver medalist of 19th Summer Olympic Games J.Munkhbat, D.Sereeter,
Ch.Damdinsharav and T.Artag on the occasion of the 50th anniversary
of historical achievements. In 2008, first commemorative silver coins for gold
and silver medalists of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games N.Tuvshinbayar,
E.Badar-Uugan, P.Serdamba, O.Gundegmaa and D.Baatarjav were released in two
types: 1kg and 1 ounce.
