National University of Mongolia and Kim Il-sung University to expand the cooperation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mr. Thae Hyong-chol, member of the Supreme People's Assembly, Head of DPRK-Mongolia parliamentary group at the Supreme People's Assembly and Director of Kim Il-sung University, visited the National University of Mongolia (NUM) along with a staff of the Standing committee of the Supreme People's Assembly on June 11.  Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of DPRK in Mongolia accompanied the delegates.

Director of the NUM Ya.Tumurbaatar expressed his gratitude to the Director of the Kin Il-sung University, which has a long-term friendly relations with the NUM, for paying a visit to exchange views on the cooperation. He noted the possibilities of carrying out joint study of renewable energy, studying the Asian dust, cooperating in the spheres of Korean studies, Korean language and social sciences and organizing joint consultation meetings and vocational trainings covering issues such as sustainable development, Mongolia’s transition economy and Banking changes.

Mr. Thae Hyong-chol welcomed the proposal and mentioned that the education and science sectors of the DPRK are key sectors in the development of the country.  



He invited the Director of the NUM to participate in an international academic conference at Kim Il-sung University in September, expressing his willingness to actively work on expanding the mutual cooperation in the future. Mr. Ya.Tumurbaatar gratefully accepted the invitation.

NUM Director provided his guests with detailed information on the Strategic plan of the NUM to be implemented until 2024, the measures taken as a research university and external cooperation of the university.
Mr. Thae Hyong-chol was also informed of the current research areas of the NUM and the research institutes, centers and laboratories as well as NUM Masters and Doctorate degree program.

Moreover Mr.Thae Hyong-chol and Director Ya.Tumurtbaatar shared information on the development, current condition, future goals and objectives of science and higher education fields of the two countries and exchanged views on cooperating in the fields of environment, society and humanity.
