Peacekeepers awarded Medals for Peace

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Medals for Peace have been awarded to the 5th Contingent of Mongolian Peacekeepers commanded by Lieutenant Colonel B.Chinzorig, who completed their mission in the Decisive Support operation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The ceremony took place in the Palace of Officers on November 9, and the Medals for Peace were conferred upon the peacekeepers pursuant to a Presidential decree, the President's Indormation and Press Service reported. 

Present at the ceremony were Minister of Defense N.Enkhbold, Chief of Staff of the President's Office Z.Enkhbold, Chairman of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces Lieutenant General D.Davaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Jennifer Z.Galt, Leaders of the Defense Ministry, General Staff of the Armed Forces, Continental Army Command and Air Force Command, the officers and soldiers who completed peacekeeping missions, and their families.

Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel B.Chinzorig, the 5th Contingent of more than 100 personnel has been applauded many times by the military base command in recognition of successful completion of their duties to ensure security of the military base. The US Ambassador to Mongolia, Ms. Galt has personally welcomed them at the airport to extend her gratitude, which was expressed once again today. 

Militants of the Mongolian Armed Forces have had served in peacekeeping operations in Iraq, Kosovo, Chad, Sierra Leone, and have been serving in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of the Sudan.
