MNT 4.5 billion to be spent on hay and fodder preparation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Wintering preparation has been completed in animal husbandry sector, reported B.Batzorig, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry B.Batzorig during the Cabinet’s regular meeting on November 8.

The Cabinet instructed the Minister of Finance to allocate MNT 4.5 billion in compliance with the relevant law as most aimags stored insufficient amount of hay and fodder due to financial issues.

Based on the fact that 70 percent of required hay and fodder has been prepared, the Cabinet ordered corresponding Ministers to urgently solve the finance issue and take measures directed at increasing fodder import and domestic production.

Mayor of Ulaanbaatar and Governors of aimags were tasked to ensure full preparedness of medical services for herders in the wintering camps.

Corresponding officials were assigned to ensure readiness at all levels so as to improve monitoring of domestic animal contagious diseases and prevent from possible difficulty in wintering.

The Cabinet had ordered for preparation of 32 thousand tons of hay and 13 thousand tons of fodder in soums, aimags and the capital city. According to the Minister’s report, 23 thousand tons of hay and 5.3 thousand tons of fodder have been accumulated.
